Palliative Care Queensland

NAIDOC Week 2022

Palliative Care Queensland joins National NAIDOC Week across Australia, to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The holistic family-centred principles of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander values of kinship, culture and community, are consistent with the values of palliative care. Quality care at the end phase of life can only be achieved when it is culturally appropriate to the particular needs of individuals, their family and communities. Palliative Care Queensland continue to provide relevant resources and advocate for financial support to focus on First Nations through a Clinical Centre of Excellence for First Nations Palliative Care.

We encourage all to share these resources amongst your family, friends and networks and help us stand up and show up, for quality care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.
